Email marketing (eshots) are a very cost effective method in keeping in touch with your clients and regular web visitors. It is a powerful tool to promote new products and services. But how can you make your emails stand out.
Most recently, animated GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format) have made an appearance in a few e-shots. (What are these you say?) An animated GIF can loop endlessly (and it appears as though your the image is moving) or it can present one or a few sequences and then stop the animation. You may also have come across these as they are present on some websites as advertising banner.
An example of this is could be, a twirling icon or character which can be made to move. Below an example of one we recently sent out:
Why use them? They can breathe some much needed life into your e-shots. (I think we have all had that e-shot where its just all text, and if you’re like me, it doesn’t make me want to read on.) They can grab the users attention and act as design aspects, making your e-shot stand out from the crowd.
The great news is that these animated GIF’s are pretty much universal across the major email clients… except Outlook 2007 & 2010 where, only the first frame displays – which means that if your animation contains any important information, it has to feature on the first frame or risk being lost.
I hope this has helped give you a little more insight to e-shots and what you can do with them to make your email marketing campaigns stand out.
